Chapter I: Expo's and Movies

Mon Oct 5, 2009, 11:42 AM
  • Listening to: Norther- Mirror of Madness
  • Eating: Corn on a cob
  • Drinking: Water
So, I’ve finally decided to make my first journal entry. Why? Because I feel like it.

And what better way to start my first entry then by talking about the upcoming London Excel Expo of Anime, manga, comics, cartoons, games, movies, and web comics on the 24th of October! Although, to be quite honest, it’s really just an excuse for hundreds of nerds to gather in one spot and dress up as their favourite made-up and non-existing idols. And who will Tom be cosplaying as this year? Why, Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass of course. [link]
That is… If all goes well. I can put most of the costume together myself actually, it’s quite a simple costume. But I was too lazy to make the gakuran myself, so I cheated and ordered it online. The problem is, because of the Royal Mail strike, there’s a chance that it might not get here in time, which would be very annoying. I’m going to try and make a DIY wig, but I have a strong feeling that it will end up an epic failure.

On a side note, one of the first book series I ever used to read, Darran Shan’s Vampire Saga has been made into a movie and is due to premier on the 23rd of October. I’ve been exited about the film for quite some time now, but after watching the trailer, ( [link] ) I’m kind of disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it actually looks like a pretty well-made film and a lot of fun, probably worth going to see. However… it just isn’t Darren Shan. It’s one thing that they’ve rolled three books into one film, but it’s another that they pretty much changed the whole feel of the story from quite a dark, sad and gory story about a kid who’s life is pretty much over, to a horror/comedy almost family-type film. A lot of the characters personalities are very different too, and Darren almost seems to be (judging by the trailer) happy that he’s become a vampire, when in the story he’s feelings are quite the opposite. The book isn’t set in any particular country, it never EVER mentions where they even are during their travels, but it all seems very “American”.
But… I won’t say much more about it until after I’ve actually watched the film.

In other news, I’m starting to get pressured into thinking about universities and such, this is going to be fun.
